ROASTERY TOUR

We roast your coffee right here at our Suffolk Roastery.

We slow roast all of our coffee by hand in our own roastery, in small batches to ensure best possible quality and freshness is maintained. Roasting from wholesale to retail to the tastes of our individual customers, we feel it is safe to say we have mastered the art of roasting.
Coffee originated in Africa and wandered East and West forming a ‘Coffee Belt’ bounded by the Tropics of Cancer in the North and Tropic of Capricorn in the South, grown around 1,000 miles from the equator.  Today only one commodity surpasses coffee production in monetary value and that is oil.  There are two main type of coffee, Arabica the better quality kind and Robusta which is the hardier bean.

Exclusives

We are currently sourcing some wonderful wild forest coffees from Ethiopia, in our effort to help support individual members of the Bench Maji Forest Coffee Producer Farmers Cooperative Union.   Our goal is to really help these communities in their bid to improve their income from coffee production, which is currently Organic certified and traceable, and awaiting Fairtrade status.

The Ethiopian Government intend to increase exports by 45% in 2016 to 260,000 tonnes.  Coffee made up almost half of Ethiopia’s gross domestic product in 2014. Coffee accounted for 84% of exports during that year.  Coffee accounts for 80% of total Ethiopian employment. Watch this space for news on Ethiopian Wild Forest coffee sourced through our friends, Partners for Change for Ethiopia.

Ethical Growing

We are very proud to hand roast over 27 different single origin coffee beans from around the world.

Here at Coffeelink, we are proud to have the peace of mind, knowing we are making a real difference, by sourcing ethically produced beans, through our third generation English supplier.

Knowing we are helping them to support the long term interests of farmers of remote small holdings, who are so often affected by the challenges of political, market and natural forces, makes us feel proud.

Biodegradable & Compostable cups

We are proud to have been awarded the Suffolk Carbon Charter Silver Level Award for which our cups played a large part. Since 2012 we have served our coffee in biodegradable fully compostable cups which are plant lined rather than oil. This also results in better tasting coffee and the lids are recyclable too! In light of the big news item recently 'Wake up and Smell the Waste' headed by celebrity Chef Hugh Fearnly-Whittingstall, we are particularly proud of our cups.

We don't just talk about our passion for sustainability, our awards and associations speak for us.
