We love our planet

We are so glad that the summer has finally arrived here in the UK. Nothing beats getting out and enjoying those gorgeous rays of sun on a walk or relaxing somewhere on a lazy afternoon.
What better, then, to enjoy a Coffeelink cup of coffee while out and about enjoying summer activities? We are very proud to say that all of our takeaway cups are compostable, so you can have your take-away coffee knowing that you are doing your bit for the environment too.
We are always looking for new ways to help the environment with what we do. We live in such a fast paced world we think it is important to stop and take time to look at the impact we are having and try to reduce as much waste as possible. We have installed 120 solar panels at our roastery in Ipswich, Suffolk and are making more steps to being more environmentally friendly by recycling where we can and keeping our energy wastage to a minimum.
There are ways for you to get involved too!
For example - those coffee grounds you throw away after brewing your coffee at home? They can be used to fertilize your garden! Coffee grounds contain several minerals that help plants grow - nitrogen, calcium, potassium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium and chromium. Plus, coffee grounds attract worms into your soil, worms help aerate soil and encourage plants to grow. Used coffee grounds can also be added to compost bins, perfect if you don't quite have any plants that need the extra nutrition - it can be saved for later.
Plus - coffee grounds are a great way to keep those slugs and snails away from your garden flowers and veg. Researchers have discovered that these garden creatures are not a fan of caffeine and will turn away when they encounter it. So, your used coffee grounds are a brilliant environmentally friendly alternative to other pesticides.
If you want to get some used coffee grounds from one of our cafe's or kiosk's feel free to give us a call or pop in - we would be happy to help!
We also sell the gorgeous hessian sacks that our coffee beans come in. These have been used by our customers to upcycle furniture, turn into beautiful art pieces or simply just be used as really handy storage bags! We love the idea of items being reused and recycled, and we are sure that the planet loves it too.
