How Can I Turn My Morning Coffee Into A Self-Care Ritual?

There are days when you’d probably like to wake-up and have your morning coffee prepared, especially if you have lots to do on your list.

But if there’s something we noticed it’s that the deeper you dive into the coffee world, the more you enjoy the coffee brewing experience.

Manually Grinding The Beans For Your Morning Coffee

Weighing your coffee grounds to get the perfect coffee-to-water ratio And if you’re using anything other than an espresso machine, slowly pouring water over the grounds helps you control the extraction.

Brewing coffee at home is no longer just about getting your caffeine fix. It has become a ritual, a moment to slow down, and a way to express your taste through flavour, tools, and the space you create around it.

In this blog we’ll be breaking down how to enhance your morning coffee experience.

Your Calendar, Your Morning Coffee Rules

We all have days when we wake up and already feel behind on everything we need to get done.

While it’s natural to rush out the door so you can start ticking the tasks off your list, we’d invite you to do the opposite.

The best decisions are rarely made under pressure, they’re made with clarity. And morning coffee rituals have their way of helping us start the day the right way.

Does it feel like an impossible task?

Start by allocating a slot in your calendar early  in the morning for brewing your coffee with intention. Not just boiling the kettle and mixing the grounds with burning hot water.

But deliberately focusing on every step of the brewing process. When you slow down the process, you pull yourself back into the present.

Even just 5 minutes can help you start the day from a place of calm, grounded, and relaxed rather than rushed.

Streamline Your Coffee Brewing Process

If you love drinking coffee in the quiet sip by sip but don’t love brewing coffee as much (or you just don’t have the time for it most days), you can create your own customised ritual.

Here are a few scenarios and alternative solutions:

  1. No time for grinding the beans? Switch to pre-ground coffee.

Yes, grinding your own beans is the recommended choice. But having the time to enjoy it before you rush out the door is more important.

  1. Is your alarm set for 5 a.m.? Have the morning coffee brew itself while you’re sleeping.

You’re probably wondering how. There are drip coffee machines that can be programmed to brew the coffee at the time you set it to.

  1. Do you want to have some control over the brewing process without wasting too much time?

Create your own coffee corner where you keep everything you need on hand from brewing equipment to filters and your favourite speciality coffee.

If you know you’re going to use your V60, grind your beans the night before, store them in an airtight container and put the filters next to it. You already know the steps you’re going to take, so having all the items in order will help you waste less time in the morning while brewing coffee your way.

Brew A Morning Coffee You’ll Actually Enjoy

That goes without saying, but choosing the single origin you enjoy the most is non-negotiable.

You can always experiment with different roasts, origins and blends, but there will be times when you order something you don’t enjoy as much, so having your favourite in your cupboard can save you a trip to the supermarket.

Once you have your favourite coffee on hand, brew it using your favourite equipment, too.

We wrote an entire blog about building your own coffee corner.
